Which of the following days are public holidays in Scotland (choose TWO options)?
Correct Answers: 1st of January; 2nd of January
In Scotland, both 1 January (New Year's Day) and 2 January are public holidays.
This reflects the significance of Hogmanay — the Scottish New Year celebration — which traditionally involves celebrations continuing into 2 January.
The rest of the UK only has 1 January as a public holiday for New Year. Scotland also has some unique public holidays such as St Andrew's Day (30 November) as a bank holiday.
