What was the nickname given to the Scottish poet Robert Burns?
Correct Answer: The Bard
Robert Burns (1759–1796) is Scotland's national poet, affectionately known as "the Bard" (short for "the Bard of Ayrshire").
He wrote in both Scots and English, and many of his poems and songs — such as Auld Lang Syne, To a Haggis, and A Red, Red Rose — have become embedded in Scottish and British culture.
His birthday, 25 January, is celebrated annually as Burns Night, marked with haggis, whisky, poetry recitations and traditional Scottish music.
