Who gave Henry VIII the son he wanted, Edward?
Correct Answer: Jane Seymour
Henry VIII famously had six wives, driven largely by his desire for a male heir.
It was his third wife, Jane Seymour, who finally gave him the son he desperately wanted — Prince Edward, born in 1537.
Jane Seymour died shortly after childbirth. Edward went on to become King Edward VI at the age of nine when Henry died in 1547. Henry's earlier marriages — to Catherine of Aragon (who gave him Mary, later Mary I) and Anne Boleyn (who gave him Elizabeth, later Elizabeth I) — had produced daughters, not the male heir he required.
