Where in England was one of the Anglo-Saxon kings buried with treasure and armour?
Correct Answer: Sutton Hoo, Suffolk
Sutton Hoo in Suffolk is the site of a famous Anglo-Saxon royal ship burial, discovered in 1939. An entire ship was used as a burial chamber for an important Anglo-Saxon king — believed to be King Rædwald of East Anglia — along with magnificent treasure including a decorated helmet, shield, gold jewellery and coins.
The treasures from Sutton Hoo are now displayed at the British Museum in London and are among the most prized objects in British archaeology. The site revealed a great deal about the culture and craftsmanship of early medieval England.
