What was Boudicca, the queen of the Iceni in what is now eastern England, known for?
Correct Answer: Her rebellion against the Romans
Boudicca (also spelled Boadicea), queen of the Iceni tribe in what is now eastern England, was famous for leading a rebellion against the Romans around 60 AD.
Following the Roman seizure of Iceni lands and mistreatment of her family, Boudicca united several British tribes and sacked the Roman cities of Camulodunum (Colchester), Londinium (London), and Verulamium (St Albans) before being defeated by Roman general Paulinus.
She remains a symbol of resistance and has a famous statue on the Thames Embankment near Westminster Bridge.
