How are Members of Parliament (MPs) elected in the UK?
Correct Answer: First past the post system (the candidate who gets the most votes)
Members of Parliament (MPs) in the UK are elected using the first past the post system.
In each of the 650 constituencies, the candidate who receives the most votes wins the seat, regardless of whether they achieve a majority.
This system is sometimes criticised because parties can win large numbers of seats without winning a majority of the national vote, but it is praised for producing strong, stable governments.
